看见 vs 看到: what is the difference?

They are close. 见 only works with seeing and hearing (看见, 听见, 遇见), while 到 works with many more verbs such as 找到 and 买到. In everyday use you can often swap them.

Says you saw something, using 见, which only goes with seeing and hearing.

Not: 我买见了那本书。 见 only works with seeing and hearing. For getting something, use 到: 我买到了那本书。

看到 (kàn dào)

Says you saw something, and 到 also works with many other verbs, such as 找到 and 买到.
