- 萬子 · Characters — The only suit that is written in words: a number plus 萬 (ten thousand).
- 筒子 · Dots — Circles, not characters. Count the dots and say the number yourself.
- 索子 · Bamboo — Sticks of tied cash. Called 条 tiáo in much of the north — both are right.
