听懂 vs 听到: what is the difference?

听到 means you heard a sound: 我听到了他的声音. 听懂 means you understood it: 我听懂了他的话.

Not: 我听懂了一个声音。 听懂 needs something with meaning. For hearing a sound, use 听到: 我听到了一个声音。
