非…不可: absolutely must
Structure: Subject + 非 + VP + 不可
非…不可 expresses strong necessity or inevitability — stronger than 必须 or 应该.
- 这件事非你不可。(Only you can do this / It absolutely has to be you.)
- 他非去北京不可。(He absolutely must go to Beijing.)
- 今天非完成不可！(It absolutely must be finished today!)
Note: 非 here is classical Chinese for "not"; 不可 = "cannot" → double negative = strong affirmation. The pattern is formal and emphatic. Colloquially also used to express stubbornness or determination.
