Which should you choose?
- Choose GraphChinese if you want a course that tells you what to learn next and checks you learned it: 829 topics from the four tones to HSK 6, each mapped to an HSK level and served after what it rests on, with stroke-order writing, reviews that bring back what you are losing, and 102 narrated graded readings.
- Choose Mandarin Corner if you are past the beginner stage and want free listening practice: real conversations and stories on video, with transcripts, watched at your own pace.
- Switching is not worth it if Mandarin Corner already fills your listening hours, you review what you meet some other way, and you are not working toward an HSK date. Free input you actually watch is worth a lot.
Mandarin Corner is a free video channel with a store beside it: lessons on YouTube by level and subject, a podcast with transcripts, and paid PDFs, posters, Anki decks and HSK courses.
GraphChinese is a course from HSK 0 to HSK 6 that orders everything by what depends on what, tests you on it, and maps every topic to an HSK level.

What Mandarin Corner does well
- A lot of real Chinese costs nothing. The videos and the podcast come with transcripts.
- The store covers every HSK level. Sells HSK 1-4 courses, an HSK 5 four-video course and a 25-video HSK 6 vocabulary course ("All 2500 HSK 6 words with sentence examples") (source, checked Oct 2026).
- Characters get their own material. Character posters covering "the 2631 HSK required characters" and per-level character flashcard decks (source, checked Oct 2026).
- You can pay once instead of renewing, and the free videos stay free either way.
Where Mandarin Corner does not help
- Watching is not reviewing. SRS only through sold Anki decks; no scheduler on the site itself (none described) (source, checked Oct 2026). A word you hear once in a video is gone in a week unless something asks you for it again.
- Nothing checks what you know. Videos and transcripts do not test you or tell you which topic to learn next.
- Extras are bought one by one. PDFs complete collection $50; HSK and character posters $15-$40; conversation and beginner content $5-$20; Anki flashcards $10-$20; subtitles $30-$50 (source, checked Oct 2026).
A video library versus a graph
Listening to real Chinese is the right idea, and Mandarin Corner does it well. What a library of videos does not show is what each one rests on, or whether you still remember last month's words.
A knowledge graph makes the order explicit: every one of the 829 topics lists what it rests on, the course serves it after those, and reviews bring back the topics that are fading before they get in the way of what is ahead.
You can jump ahead or claim a topic you already know, and reviews then check the claim. One caveat: most HSK 6 vocabulary topics are alphabetical slices of the word list rather than a dependency order. Watching Mandarin Corner beside a course is a good use of both.
If you are switching from Mandarin Corner
- Take the free placement test and start at your level.
- Keep watching. Free listening sits well beside a course that teaches and reviews.
- Bring Anki decks if you have them, including ones you bought: GraphChinese imports
.apkgfiles with their audio and images. Review history does not come across, so those cards start fresh.
